Be an extra in Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes!
David E. Kelley’s TV adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Mr. Mercedes is filming now. The horror legend even revealed yesterday via Twitter that he will be making a cameo appearance as he often does in film and TV versions of his books.
The MR. MERCEDES series is really good. And if you watch closely, you just might see yours truly.

Want to be an extra in Mr. Mercedes?
Extras casting is being handled by Tona B. Dahlquist Casting and for details on submitting for consideration for an extra role on the show, visit their official Facebook page.
What you need to know?
- Filming is taking place in Charleston, SC. You must be local to Charleston, SC or willing to work as such to be considered for an extra role. While being an extra is a paid position (usually $64/8 hours — see the page for exact details), travel and lodging are not provided.
- Pay close attention to the posts on the page and only submit what you meet the requirements for. Unless a post states they are seeking teenagers or kids, you must be at least 18 years of age to submit. If the post is seeking a female who is 5’10’ with light blonde hair, you must be that — not just ready to throw on some stiletto heels and put on a blonde wig. Send all of the details requested to the email stated (do not send Facebook messages or ask questions in the comments). Send current photos of yourself (they can be taken with a cell phone) that reflect what you look like now. If you get booked as an extra based on a picture you sent and you don’t look like that now? You will be turned away.
- Understand that thousands submit to be extras and only a lucky few are chosen. If you’re not chosen, you’re not alone. If you are, be on time and ready to work. This is a job. If you’ve never been on a set before (experience is not required), check out the casting agency’s list of helpful hints.
- The show has an impressive cast — including Mr. King himself. If you’re lucky enough to get to work on set remember, you can’t approach the cast for autographs and pictures. They’re working very hard on their lines and performances and so should you be.
Good luck! Hope to see you on set. If you haven’t yet, check out Mr. Mercdes, the first book of the Bill Hodges Trilogy. These are some of Stephen King’s best books. You will enjoy them!
